Delhi Government’s Big Move: New Law Announced for Protection of Stray Cows

Protection Framework for Stray Cattle in Delhi Announced
In response to the growing issue of stray cattle in the city, the Delhi Government has taken a significant legislative step aimed at improving public life and animal welfare.

During a session in the Delhi Assembly, Urban Development Minister Ashish Sood declared that a dedicated law will be introduced to safeguard the rights and wellbeing of stray cows. This upcoming legislation will address concerns such as animal abuse, illegal cattle trade, and neglect of bovines through strict regulatory measures.

New Cow Shelters Planned
To support this initiative, the government has also allocated budgetary provisions for the development of modern cow shelters. These shelters will offer proper accommodation, healthcare services, and food facilities specifically for stray cows across the capital.

Legislation Reflects Public Sentiment
Minister Sood emphasized that the proposed law has been shaped with deep consideration of public emotions and cultural values. “Every member has thoughtfully contributed to this cause, ensuring it aligns with the city’s collective conscience,” he said.

The law is expected to enhance coordination between civic bodies and animal welfare departments, ensuring more humane and systematic care for Delhi’s stray cow population.
